Remember last week (or whenever) when I said I was working on getting all those clothes ready for the consignment sale? I shopped on Thursday evening and worked the sale for 9 hours today. I am soooo tired. My back and legs are aching. It's been a long time since I've overdone it like this. I must be more careful.
On Thursday when I shopped, I was able to find 8 dresses that Little Sister can wear to church. Several of them were high-end dresses ($50+ brand new) and I paid only $8-$15 for each. I found 5 pairs of shoes that were in excellent condition and all together, I got 21 things for only $75. Today, I let her pick out one toy that she wanted - and I'm SO proud of her - she picked a huge box of Polly Pocket items. The entire box was only $10. There must be 200 pieces in that box. She's learning how to get the most for her $$$. I could see her reasoning with her selection. She said, "I can get that one box that is packed full or I can get this one toy that is just one thing, right?" and I said, "Yeppers." She chose the big box.
I remember sharing with you that the boy's items are slim pickins....and that is no different this year. I found 3 nice shirts and a Star Wars book but that's it. There were no shoes in his size and the pants were ratty. I guess my MIL will be the one to purchase his wardrobe for the coming season. One would have thought that he won the lottery when I gave him the Star Wars book. That pleased me.
When I worked today, I kept noticing items coming through my line with my contributor # on them. That made me happy. All of the big items like the train table and all the train items, including the other toys that we contributed are all gone. They were already sold when I shopped on Thursday evening. When I was re-racking after close tonight, I couldn't find any of the size 4T and 5T shirts that I contributed - there were over 40 of those to begin with.
I'm already planning how I am going to be prepared to contribute to the next sale that will take place in August/Sept. I'm clearing out space in the upper closet racks so that I can pull the clothes from their drawers and tag them to go right onto the rack. That way, I'll be ready for the sale without any prep. I took a lot of items this year and almost all of them have already sold - and it's just been the workers and contributors who have shopped. It opens to the public on Tuesday.
I'm babbling...and its' time for me to get horizontal :)
Happy Valentine's Day!
