How do you feel about houses and yards that are elaborately decorated with lots and lots of lights so much that it looks more like Santa's Runway than some simple Christmas decorations?
How much is too much?
If your neighbor had an elaborate yard set up (so much that hundreds of cars visited it each week), how do you think you would feel about that?
Have to admit being two-faced about this. I love seeing other yards that look that way but would not be thrilled to have to deal with the traffic in my neighborhood.

I love the beautiful lights. I don't have a lot of use for the 8 foot Santas, snow globes, snowmen, spongebob, whatevr. Or the big plastic tacky lawn decorations. But, the boys love that stuff, and ooh and ahh when we drive by, so God bless the ones who do it and make my kids happy. I'm more into greens, bows, lights, poinstettias, that sort of thing. I wouldn't mind the traffic it if it moved along in an orderly fashion, and the neighbor shut the lights at 10 PM to signal "show's over".
What I do dislike, immensly, is the lights that stay up for months and months and months. They should do public service announcements begging people to take down the Santas and the Christmas lights before March. And then there are those who leave them up all year long. I guess it makes it easier in December.

OHHHHH, this is a big discussion at our house as I would prefer quaint, non-lighted decorations, and hubby would like the house to look like something from Disney World. I've decided to deliberately lose this battle while the munchkin is young. Then later on, I'll have lots of leverage for decorating MY way. (Wait, who am I kidding? By then, there will be grandchildren and more reasons for tons of lights...)

Oooh I was just going to post about this!
I hate it!! Even without the hundreds of cars it is wrong, wrong, wrong.

My sister has to deal with this in her rural home. Her neighbor directly across the street (which in my neighborhood would be a block or two away) lights up EVERYTHING on Thanksgiving night. Every year we leave her home and someone in the car will say..."Oh, no. Looks like Santa threw-up".
Simple is good.
