I have a bad temper and I really wish I didn't. I'm sad to say it looks like my son has my temper and I really hoped and prayed he'd have my husband's disposition.

I usually try to calm and then reason with someone throwing a tantrum.

I try to ignore temper tantrums or sometimes when they are really gone, I find that I break out laughing at the ridiculousness of it. It really doesn't help the situation, but I can't seem to help it.

I have a temper that (sadly) only my family see, but recently we spent holidays with good friends of 20+ years who I thought I knew well and actually witnessed my girlfriend do a HUGE dummy spit in the middle of a board-game in front of all our teenage kids and hubby and me!!!
How did I handle it? I didn't. Just sat there with my mouth agape. It was my 17 year old son who diffused it that made me so proud of the person he is and who I seldom give him credit for.
I just felt very sad for her daughters who must have felt quite humiliated but said nothing.
Have made note to self though: GROW UP!

Having grown up in a sometimes volatile household...I just leave the premises. I can't tolerate a lot of drama.

I walk away. I hate drama.
